Falkirk Wheel Trip – Friday 26 July 2019

What a great day out: weather was kind, wonderful company as usual and what a joy to see this feat of engineering!  (Love how the Falkirk area has been regenerated, with its beautiful Kelpies and Wheel).

We enjoyed our picnics, ice creams, laughs and watching all the families enjoying their day out. Grateful thanks to all who made this possible.

Kelpies Trip – 7 June 2019

On the go again! A fabulous day out to see The Kelpies – lots of sunshine and just one wee shower of rain. A brilliant day from start to finish and thoroughly enjoyed by all. It was sheer joy to see these beautiful sculptures close up. Thank you to Amy at the Helix Visitor Centre for all her help in organising the trip; Jim for his wonderful commentary on our guided tour, and David our ELC bus driver for transporting us safely. Jim explained just how important the whole Helix project has been in regenerating the Falkirk area, with all proceeds from the guided tours, gift shop sales, etc all going to benefit the wider community. Our heartfelt thanks to all in the Dunbar Community and beyond, whose generous donations make trips like this possible.

Afternoon Tea at Dunbar Garden Centre – 23 May 2019

What a lovely afternoon at Dunbar Garden Centre to celebrate the first anniversary of the official launch of Dunbar Dementia Network.  The  company was excellent, the tea was flowing and the cakes and savouries were delicious.

The afternoon was rounded off nicely, choosing some plants to donate to the Sanctuary Garden at The Backlands.  All in all, gorgeous weather, great company and food, with time spent in beautiful surroundings.

Dunbar Dementia Network Represented at Memorial Service – 25 April 2019

Our thanks to John & Dorothy Denholm for representing Dunbar Dementia Carers Support Group and Dunbar Dementia Network, at the unveiling of a memorial stone in honour of Pilot, Flying Officer, Harry Kenneth Lillington Rice (aged 21) and Navigator, Flying Officer, Aubrey John Clarke (aged 23), who died in the Beaufighter crash at Middle Monynut during WW2.  It was particularly fitting for Dorothy to attend as she was associated with the WRAC in her younger days.
