THE DEMENTIA HUB AT DUNBAR LIBRARY, THE BLEACHINGFIELD CENTRE, DUNBAR
Dunbar Library has been instrumental in the work of laying the foundations for a dementia-friendly community in this area. A ‘Dementia Hub’ was created in 2015, in conjunction with the founding of The Dunbar Dementia Carers Support Group.
A safe and welcoming place to enjoy quality time with a loved one, the library stocks a selection of both fiction and non-fiction dementia related titles which are available on loan to Library members. There is also a selection of dementia-friendly picture books which are ideal for stimulating reminiscences, as well as encouraging conversation. Dunbar Rotary donated some fantastic Memory Boxes which can also be used in the Library.
An information board with a wide selection of leaflets on help and assistance available, nationally and locally is on display.
