Dunbar Dementia Carers Support Group

This  friendly and welcoming group was formed in March 2015, and has continued to grow in response to local demand.  Our Thursday group meets weekly in the Gibb  Room at the Bleachingfield Centre, Dunbar, (2 30 – 3 30pm).  The group offers support, companionship and laughter for those family members caring for someone who is living with a diagnosis of a dementia related condition.

Over time, the group have enjoyed visits at their weekly meetings from local authors, guest speakers and other community groups, as well as taking part in Creative Writing Sessions and several Art Workshops.  Social lunches and get-togethers, as well as outings to The Royal Botanic Gardens, Pantomime at the Brunton Hall, a visit to The Scottish Parliament and Holyrood Palace are just a few of the trips that we have enjoyed.  Most of all, however, the emphasis at our meetings is on coming together, as friends, to help make life that bit better and happier for all concerned.
