Book Week Scotland Author Event -21 Nov 2019

To celebrate Book Week Scotland this year, our good friend Lorna Hill (Director of Sharing a Story CIC) in partnership with the Scottish Book Trust, arranged for author John Killick to come along to meet our groups – what a treat!!

John, who is currently writer in residence for Alzheimer Scotland, engaged the group in a variety of creative writing activities, which were much enjoyed by all. (Delicious ‘Book Week Scotland’ cupcakes were also served – thank you Lorna!). Huge thanks to Sharing a Story CIC and the Scottish Book Trust for making this event possible.

Afternoon Tea at Winterfield Golf Club – 10/9/19

Winterfield Golf Club was our destination today, where Kevin, Julie & Doreen looked after us beautifully, once more. The best china was out and we had a brilliant afternoon, our Thursday group coming together with our new Wednesday group for the first time. New friends made and great conversation around the tables.

We were joined by Lorna Hill of ‘Sharing A Story CIC’ and (Birthday Girl!) Rita Bradd, who have been such great friends to us – their input is so much appreciated.
Thank you so much to all who made this possible by donating so generously to group funds.

First Meeting of Second Dunbar Dementia Carers Support Group – 2 October 2019

Our new second Carers Support Group got off to a flying start today. Connections made around the table were heartwarming – can tell that this is going to be a fun group!! Watch out when our two groups get together for social outings and events – watch this space…….
A huge welcome to our new volunteers, Amy and Evelyn and many thanks to Thursday group volunteers and members (Beth, Helen, Moira & Kenny) for coming along to welcome our new friends.

Fundraising Macmillan Afternoon Tea – Thursday, 26 September 2019

Our annual Macmillan Afternoon Tea was a great success once again. Maggie appeared with her legendary meringues (Birthday Boy Kenny managed two of them, as well as his birthday cake!!). Congratulated ‘Golden’ couple, Nesta & John, and paid tribute to the great work carried out by Macmillan…….all go!
One or two donations for Macmillan still to come in. Thanks to all for joining in, baking and bringing treats to share.
